Nepal, currently on a tour of the United States, made a successful start on Friday. Nepal secured an impressive 17-run victory over the United States in the first Twenty20 International match held in Dallas(Grand Prairie cricket Stadium). With this win, Nepal has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The second match will be held on Saturday at the same ground.
While chasing a target of 165 runs, the United States could only score 147 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. US had a really poor start while only making … runs in the powerplay while losing .. wickets., Sayan Jahangir scored the highest with 60 runs. He faced 34 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. However, his innings did not prove to be decisive. Apart from him, Andres Gaus scored 30, and Milind Kumar added 22 runs.
Nepal’s bowlers performed tight and disciplined bowling, not allowing the American batters to play freely. The United States National Cricket team needed 49 runs from the last 12 balls to win. In the final over, they required 31 runs for the victory, which was almost impossible. Among Nepal’s bowlers, Dipendra took 3 wickets for 27 runs. Dipendra Singh also helped Nepal Cricket team with a electrifying run out.
Earlier, Nepal, batting first, posted 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, led by captain Rohit Paudel’s 49 runs. Rohit hit 4 fours and 1 six off 33 balls. Unfortunately, he was run out while approaching his half-century. Nepal had made a good start, with a 48-run partnership for the first wicket.
Both openers, Anil Sah and Aasif Sheikh, scored 27 runs each. Towards the end of the innings, Dipendra Singh Airee added 28 runs off 17 balls. However, in the process of trying to score quickly, Nepal lost wickets in quick succession, losing their last five wickets for just 5 runs. Otherwise, Nepal’s total would have been even higher. Dipendra Singh Airee was announced as Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
